Obsidian is a volcanic rock, born from the decomposition of volcanic lava. It is a natural volcanic glass that occurs in dark shades (black, gray and brown), and may have white inclusions of cristobalite. It can be found in Ecuador, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, USA and Russia.

The stone has light transparency and luster.
