Discovered in 1806 in Greenland, Sodalite only became an important ornamental stone from 1891 when vast deposits of good quality material were discovered in Canada. It was then named Princess Blue in honor of Princess Patricia, who visited the Canadian warehouse some time after her discovery and who chose Sodalita to decorate the interior of Marlborough House in England.

Found in Brazil, Russia, Canada, Namibia and India, Sodalita is a stone widely used today for its striking style and versatility.
