Brazilian stones are admired and sought after all over the world and, in general, Brazilian stones have a very above-average color and brightness. With deposits scattered throughout its territory, it is one of the largest producers of gemstones.
Agate
The agate is a chalcedony with bands, occasionally blended. The bands can be of different colors or also of a very uniform tone.
3,000 years ago the agate was already used as a gem by the Egyptians. It is currently used in art objects, jewelery stones and also in industry because of its toughness and acid resistance. The most common colors are red, orange, brown, white, gray and bluish gray. But the agate can be colored artificially. The procedure varies according to the desired color and is applied after the gem has been stoned. The ancient Romans already knew the art of dyeing them.
The main deposits of agate in the world are located in Brazil: Rio Grande do Sul, Minas Gerais, Bahia and Uruguay.
